Our
products place in the intermediate category regarding
installation difficulty. Consumers and contractors do
most of the installations. An installation guide is
available upon request. Adhesive may be applied to the
base [coned bottoms (feet or legs)] on solid sub-surfaces
only, except rooftops, and should be applied to the
interlocks of the tiles-mats-blocks at all times. Tools
that are standard for most installations include a utility
knife or jig saw for cutting, a straight edge to make
your cuts accurately, a string line and tape measure.
A trowel or corking gun may be needed for gluing purposes
and a drill gun with screws may be needed for bolt down
applications as seen in this picture below.
We
suggest laying crushed recycled concrete on level ground along
with a landscaping mesh or geo-textile fabric before
installing our products. Other types of sub-surfaces
or bases that can be used are as follows: asphalt
(blacktop), solid concrete (cement), crushed stone
(stone dust) or quarry (RCA), wood decking, and/
or any standard indoor flooring that does not have
stress cracks. Order of preference
are as follows: 1) concrete, 2) blacktop,
3) recycled stones. |
Handicap Accessible
More
and more agencies are becoming aware of the fact that all public
facilities must be handicap accessible.
With the 1991 passage of the "American with Disabilities
Act" (ADA) and having to pass the “Accessibility-Rotational
Penetrometer” test many areas are being planned
or modified to give children and adults with
disabilities an opportunity
to participate in more everyday activities. Sand,
wood chips, bark, pea-gravel, fiber, mulch or
loose rubber are not handicap
accessible. Regardless of who you are, it is not easy to maneuver strollers, crutches,
wheelchairs, canes, or walkers through these
loose filled materials. Some of the only surfaces
that
are handicapped accessible and allow anyone to
maneuver easily, include our UNITARY rubberized
safety surfacing, flooring
and paver products as seen in the picture below:
Some advantages we have over the compeditor:
Our
unique double tiles-mats-blocks have a unique double
interlocking system with bolt-down capabilities that allows
us to have a monolithic step and repeat pattern,
which gives us the opportunity to stagger the seams
as if you were installing "brickwork" for
a much better layout and look. This also eliminates
future problems suck as: expansion & contraction,
product-to-product separation, curling and wind
uplift, which can result in huge gaps and ends
peel up that may encourage vandalism as well as
many other future problems commonly associated with
other products on the market.
The
interlocks are seen every three inches (3") which provides
owners of our products to cut the tongues when needed,
thus removing a damaged product, repairing the substrate
(roof drain), or relocating a surfacing area if
necessary. Unlike pour-in-place systems,
if you need to replace an area, the entire area
would not need to be replaced if using our products.
This versatility is unmatched and decreases the
repair expenses for the consumer. Notice the unique
double interlocking system that locks our products
tightly together for many years of hassle-free enjoyment.
Our system eliminates the need for unwanted Fasteners,
Clips, or even Pins that can jar loose and clog
and drain or even injury someone.
Our
Patented tongue & grove technology is designed to snap & hook into
place, and stay there. By gluing the interlocks
(both male and female) and / or side together
as well as the coned bottoms (feet or legs) we prevent
these problems for many years.
The
new "bolt-down" capabilities as
seen within interlocks and countersunk are designed
for even more protection against vandelism, another
feature that no one else in the industry has or
offers. This is even a requirement by many federal,
state, and local agencies……………… and we have it.
The draw back to a solid bottom tile-mat-block or pour-in-place systems are that they
do not drain freely. During cold weather, water may
freeze thus lifting or cracking these products. The
porous surfacing, flooring and paver products we provide
are water permeable. This allows water to drip through
our products and channel its way around the coned bottom
(feet or legs) and run freely to a drainage outlet,
even on roof tops. As a result, the area can be used
at all times.
Colors:
All of "Unity's" rubberized safety surfacing, flooring and paver products
are made with tire buffings and crumb rubber granules
mixed with clear urethane. Colored products are made
with pigmented dyes combined with black rubber. These
pigments are dispersed throughout the top of our products.
Colors are as follows: Black, Splash, Steel (gray), Red, Green, Tan, Blue, White, Teal, Brown, Purple, and EPDM top.
The "Splash" design is
made with EPDM toppings that can be made 25% light
or 100% solid. With a unique blend of EPDM rubber
granule's, anyone can have unlimited design potential
and coloring options to compliment any area. Fourteen
(14) EPDM color choices include:
After
many years of use, like
other products on the market, Our products
can be painted for a fresh new look. We provide
the necessary paints that can be sprayed on or simply
rolled on for a brand new look. This can provide
less heat build up and extend the life of our products
for many more years to come. A special "aliphatic
top coat" may be applied to the top of our
products to provide extra protection against the
harsh environment. Below is a list of coloring options:
